Air and water are arguably the basis for our survival. Privatizing such a thing would lead to world wars. Only 3% of the worlds water is fresh drinkable water.
the water industry along with other industries should be kept competitive. If the government was solely responsible for the distribution of water, we would have to pay high prices and systems would very rarely be improved to improve efficiency. wush 08-18-2010 02:48 AM CT

Unbelievably air and water are renewable resources that we will never run out of.
Now I know this may be difficult to comprehend but water is not drinkable out of random rivers. It first must be treated. The treatment of water is not some mystic process using the intestines of pigs that only the government can perform. Believe it or not anyone can do it. By nationalizing water you simply create an efficient monopoly who has no profit motive, and thereby no incentive to make the process more cost efficient for the tax payers. Water has its limits even though it is renewable. Why should a government be the one to dole it out?
The primary con given by the debater was that it "could lead to world wars". Money is universal but nationalization ends at the nations borders. If anything would cause "world wars" (highly implausible) then it would be the nationalization of water and certainly not the privatization of it. askbob 08-15-2010 08:15 PM CT
I would be one of the first to take up arms against such interests here, in this country. One might say they already exist to some extent. Do they?... mitchosch 02-09-2010 09:47 AM CT
