What is YickYak?
YickYak is a place to post and debate on issues that are most important to you. The content can come from the most obvious news sources but we also encourage those to provide news from an alternative perspective. This is what YickYak.com is all about -- debating on issues from an alternative perspective, and that alternative perspective should come from you. You should not have to depend upon talking heads on popular cable channels to form your opinions but now you can become one of those talking heads by providing your own personal editorial or participating in a written and/or oral debate with other registered users using podcasting, online phones, and discussion forums.
So what happens? Whenever you post and comment on a particular article or opinion about a particular issue others will be allowed to challenge, vote, and rate your comment with a "Yick" (A negative rating) or a "Yak" (A positive rating). A Yick or Yak rating is based on how well you can communicate your perspective to others. You can also rate others and challenge those interested in debating with you. From one-on-one to a round table debate.
Podcasting will be one of the main tools used in communicating your opinions. You will be allowed to record an oral podcast in the privacy of your home and upload your editorial or debate to YickYak.com for others to listen to and rate. Over time you will build a reputation on how well others view your debating and editorial skills along with any written opinions within the discussion forums. If you are interested in being a moderator you can moderate debates between other registered users and earn money doing it! You can also have your debates moderated by registered moderators on YickYak.com to keep the debate honest and civil as you would normally see on television and talk radio programs. You must also know that even the moderators will be rated as well. They will become just as important as the debaters themselves.
